Multiple authorities familiar with the case have stated that West was hospitalized for "his own health and safety", and one of his own personal doctors believed that he was suffering from severe sleep deprivation, which prompted the recommendations for his admittance for medical care. Further reports suggest that West refused to attend hospital and so was restrained for transportation.
During the weekend, at his show in Sacramento, West displayed what seemed typical erratic behavior. He played just three songs, and ended with a 15 minute rant in which he called out Beyonce, Jay Z and Hillary Clinton. He then went on to cancel the remaining 21 dates of his Saint Pablo Tour. There have been suggestions made that West is suffering from severe exhaustion.
During his concert last Thursday in San Jose, West expressed his support for President-elect Donald Trump, saying, "If I would've voted, I would've voted on Trump." He also suggested that "black people [should] stop focusing on racism." During the show, his audience booed and shouted derisive comments. Elsewhere, the reaction was just as unfavorable; DeRay Mckesson, a leader of Black Lives Matter, tweeted, "This isn't the first time he's said statements that don't quite make sense to us."
UPDATE: KROQ in Los Angeles have added reports to the possible condition of Kanye West. The radio station, in response to undisclosed sources, are suggesting that West was not restrained for transportation to the hospital. Furthermore, there is speculation that the rapper and his doctor have filed an insurance claim that would see the rapper receiving payment for all of his cancelled shows from the Saint Pablo Tour. West will also be in a protected position of not having to pay for any loss that venues may experience as a result of his cancelled performances.
