In the interview that aired on Tuesday night, the rapper is asked if he regretted his previous comment that there is "no such thing as racism", which he'd made during an interview with Fox Sports. Lil Wayne said he didn't regret the remark and continued to expand on his feelings in regard to racism.
When reporter Linsey Davis pressed Wayne to discuss his thoughts on the Black Lives Matter movement, he replied, "What is it? What do you mean?" After a brief explanation he said "That just sounds weird. I don't even know why you put a name on it. It's not a name. It's not 'whatever, whatever.' It's somebody got shot by a policeman for a f***ed up reason ... I am a young, black, rich motherf****er. If that don't let you know that America understand black motherf***ers matter these days, I don't know what it is. Don't come at me with that dumb s***, ma'am. My life matter, especially to my b****es."
Despite the countless number of artists that have aligned with the Black Lives Matter movement, Wayne reiterated that he remains uninvolved, almost to the point of uninterest. "I don't feel connected to a damn thing that ain't got nothin' to do with me. If you do, you crazy as s***."
Before taking red cloth out of his back pocket Wayne added. "I'm connected to this flag right f***ing here, because I'm connected. I'm a gangbanger now." Then, abruptly cutting the interview short he unclipped his microphone and told the production crew "I ain't no f***ing politician."
During other clips of the Nightline segment, consisting of multiple interviews which took three years to produce, Wayne expounded on his love of marijuana; "There's God, there's family, there's my kids, there's music and weed".
Nightline also shared additional footage from the Wayne interview on social media, with Wayne confronting the ABC production crew during the sit-down chat. See that footage below:
