In a high tech legal display, rapper Lil' Wayne, who is currently serving a one-year prison sentence on a gun charge in New York's Rikers Island, used a live video feed to appear in a Yuma County, Arizona, courtroom last Friday morning. The reason? Weezy wanted to change his plea in a 2008 drugs and gun case. He is now pleading guilty; that plea was elected to lessen the chance of a lot more jail time, reported a local paper. The rapper and his tour bus were stopped at at the border in January of 2008. Authorities hit the drug lottery, finding cocaine, weed, Ecstacy, a handgun and other assorted drug paraphernalia on the bus. Weezy was charged with felony possession and he initially plead not guilty, but he could get three more years in the slammer if he did not change his plea. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 30.
