Lin-Manuel Miranda has revealed the final Hamildrop, “One Last Time (44 Remix).” The extraordinary remake of the original song from HAMILTON (ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST RECORDING) features Tony Award-nominee Christopher Jackson singing while former President Barack Obama recites a passage from George Washington’s farewell address. The song is produced by GRAMMY award-winning gospel singer, BeBe Winans, along with GRAMMY and Tony award-winning producer/orchestrator Alex Lacamoire. “One Last Time (44 Remix)” is now available for download/streaming here: https://Atlantic.lnk.to/OneLastTime44RemixPR.
In 2009, during the Obama administration, Miranda performed his song "Alexander Hamilton" at the White House. It was after this performance that he went on to write Hamilton: An American Musical (Pulitzer Prize, Kennedy Center Honor, 11 Tony Awards). The original version of "One Last Time," composed by Miranda for this musical - and released in 2015 - illustrates the story of Alexander Hamilton helping George Washington to pen his "Farewell Address." Miranda returned to the White House in 2017 to perform "One Last Time" alongside Christopher Jackson, who also served as an original cast member, during an emotional farewell to former President Barack Obama. Nearly 10 years after his first performance at the White House, Miranda now joins forces with the former president for this official remix, making this Hamildrop a full-circle moment.
“One Last Time (44 Remix)” serves as the last in the Hamildrop series. Since the introduction of the Hamildrop series in December of 2017, it has produced two Hot 100 singles and multiple iTunes Top 10 hits while stretching across multiple musical genres and raising money for meaningful initiatives and non-profits including March For Our Lives and the UNIDOS Program.
Lin-Manuel first introduced fans to the Hamildrop series with “Ben Franklin’s Song” by The Decemberists before unleashing a series of amazing releases including “Wrote My Way Out” with Nas, Dave East, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Aloe Blacc, “The Hamilton Polka” by Weird Al Yankovic, “Found/Tonight” with Ben Platt, “Boom Goes The Cannon…” with Mobb Deep, “Burn” with Andra Day and “A Forgotten Spot [Olivadado]” with Zion Y Lennox, De La Ghetto, Ivy Queen, PJ Sin Suela, Lucecita Benitez (and produced by Grammy award-winning Trooko).
Just over a year ago, Miranda also introduced the all-star single, “Almost like Praying” (Feat. Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, Camila Cabello, Pedro Capo, Dessa, Gloria Estefan, Fat Joe, Luis Fonsi, Juan Luis Guerra, Alex Lacamoire, John Leguizamo, Jennifer Lopez, Rita Moreno, Ednita Nazario, Joell Ortiz, Anthony Ramos, Gina Rodriguez, Gilberto Santa Rosa, PJ Sin Suela, Tommy Torres, and Ana Villafañe). The track made its chart debut at #20 on the Hot 100 with over 120,000 downloads while all proceeds were donated to The Hispanic Federation’s Unidos Disaster Relief Fund. It debuted on October 6, 2017 on Good Morning America, Today Show, CBS This Morning, and Despierta America, and was also included in a major television event on Telemundo benefitting hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
