Zayn Malik To Produce TV Show About Life In A Boyband

Former One Direction member Zayn Malik will co-produce a show about life in a boyband. Currently titled "Boys", the show will air on NBC and will also be co-produced by famed TV hitmaker Dick Wolf. "Although no casting or music has been confirmed, it's thought Malik is likely to help contribute to the show's music, following the No 1 success of his debut solo album Mind Of Mine," reports NME.

NBC president Jennifer Salke spoke about Malik's involvement saying, "Zayn certainly brings an authentic point of view to this world, where kids are catapulted into fame at a dizzying speed. On top of our excitement around the creative ideas being discussed, we have a lot of respect for the musical and digital ambitions behind the project."

Dick Wolf's wife, co-producer Noelle Wolf, said; "We were intrigued by the synergistic potential Zayn brings to the project. "Boys" will be a show that's totally integrated on broadcast and digital platforms. Casting and original music will be major components, giving the show promotional potential on multiple levels."

Simon Cowell, who originally put One Direction together on the British X Factor and released each of their five albums, told Entertainment Tonight, "I think he should have come to me with it, if I'm being honest with you. I do actually believe that when they've got these ideas, bearing in mind where we started, they should actually come to me."
