Brick & Lace are a Jamaican-American R&B and dancehall duo known for their infectious blend of reggae, pop, and contemporary R&B. Comprised of sisters Nyanda and Nailah Thorbourne, the group emerged in the mid-2000s with a sound that fused Caribbean rhythms with mainstream pop sensibilities. Their music is characterized by catchy melodies, dance-ready beats, and confident, often playful lyrical themes.

The duo gained international recognition with their debut album “Love Is Wicked” (2007), which featured the hit single of the same name. “Love Is Wicked” became a global success, charting in multiple countries and establishing Brick & Lace as rising stars in both the reggae and pop markets. The track’s blend of dancehall grooves and pop hooks showcased their ability to cross cultural and genre boundaries.

Following their breakthrough, Brick & Lace continued to release music that explored a range of styles within the Caribbean and pop spectrum. Songs like “Get That Clear (Hold Up)” further demonstrated their knack for creating upbeat, radio-friendly tracks while maintaining their reggae and dancehall roots. Their work often emphasizes themes of independence, relationships, and empowerment, delivered with strong vocal chemistry and vibrant production.

In addition to their work as a duo, both members have contributed to the music industry as songwriters and collaborators, working with artists across genres. This behind-the-scenes involvement has allowed them to influence the broader sound of contemporary pop and Caribbean music beyond their own recordings.

Today, Brick & Lace are recognized for their role in bringing a modern, pop-oriented approach to reggae and dancehall, helping introduce these styles to a wider global audience. Their blend of catchy songwriting, cultural influence, and genre versatility has secured their place as notable contributors to mid-2000s international pop and Caribbean music.
