Orbital is an English electronic music duo known for their influential role in the development of techno, ambient, and rave music. Formed in Sevenoaks, Kent, in 1989, the group consists of brothers Phil Hartnoll and Paul Hartnoll.

Orbital rose to prominence during the UK rave scene of the early 1990s, helping bring electronic music into mainstream recognition. Their music blends techno rhythms with melodic and atmospheric elements, creating a sound that is both danceable and emotionally expressive.

They gained critical acclaim with albums such as Orbital 2 (often referred to as “The Brown Album”), which includes the iconic track “Halcyon + On + On.” The album is widely considered a landmark in electronic music.

Orbital is known for their innovative live performances, often incorporating extended versions of tracks and seamless transitions, making their shows highly regarded in the electronic music community.

Their work spans a range of styles, including ambient, house, and techno, and they have also composed music for films and television, expanding their creative reach.
