Heather Anne Lomax Announces Live-Recorded Album Who Do You Think You Are for August 28 Release
The album’s spark came from a night at Los Angeles’ Troubadour. After her own release, Lomax opened for local band The Broken Homes, performing their songs in a set that felt electric and unfiltered. The experience ignited a creative pivot, leading her to craft an album she calls “rock & roll with heart and conviction.” The press release notes, “Some records are carefully polished. Others feel completely alive. Lomax’s new album belongs firmly in the latter category.”
Recording took place at Love Street Studios in Los Angeles, with producer Zachary Ross—known for work with Rose’s Pawn Shop—handling the project alongside Lomax’s own co‑production. Mixing was completed by Jason Hiller, and mastering by Maor Appelbaum. The sessions assembled a roster of seasoned musicians, including Leonard Cohen, Kacey Musgraves, Grace Potter, Bruce Springsteen, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Tanya Tucker, Dolly Parton, and Jackson Browne.
The track list features “Come Along,” “Step Aside,” “Can’t Refuse,” “Ridgefield Dreams,” “Places Unknown,” “Right On Through,” “Finally Leavin’,” “Superstar,” “Blood Red,” “Pluto Return,” and “Hello Daybreak.” “Superstar” serves as a tribute to late friend Michael Doman of The Broken Homes, whose songwriting left a lasting influence on the project.
Lomax’s personal journey is threaded throughout the album. Adopted at birth, she later uncovered a family lineage rooted in American music and storytelling, including folklorist Alan Lomax. Reclaiming her birth name marked a pivotal step toward embracing her artistic identity, and the album is presented as the most complete expression of that path to date.
Musically, the record echoes the styles of Linda Ronstadt, The Rolling Stones, Emmylou Harris, and Maria McKee, yet maintains a distinct vocal presence. The live‑recorded format captures the urgency and authenticity Lomax seeks, favoring real‑time chemistry over studio perfection.
Who Do You Think You Are will be issued on CD and digital platforms. For additional information, fans and industry observers can visit Lomax’s official website at www.heatherannelomax.com.
The release marks a significant moment in Lomax’s career, returning her to the forefront of the Americana and roots‑rock scenes with a project that blends personal history, live performance energy, and a roster of seasoned collaborators.
