Boundaries Release May This Pain Never Leave Single Ahead of July 17 Album
The track, the third single from the album, follows earlier releases "Death Will Follow Me" (April 24, 2026) and "Only Endless" (May 30, 2026). The album, which features collaborations with Make Them Suffer and Landon Tewers, contains nine songs, including "Malconscience", "Skies Cast Amber Black", and "Torn Wide Open".
Lead vocalist Matthew McDougal explained the song’s concept, saying, "The premise of the song is laid out very plainly and intentionally," and adding that it extends the ideas of psychiatrist Colin Parkes, whose writings on grief are cited in the lyrics. McDougal noted that the song addresses the pain of grief as a part of life, echoing Parkes’ assertion that grief is as integral as love.
The video was directed by Sarah Holick, the band’s longtime photographer and videographer. Filmed during a show at The Webster Underground, the performance footage captures the band’s aggressive energy and the venue’s intimate atmosphere. After filming, Boundaries thanked the audience and performed a short set, giving fans a behind‑the‑scenes look at the recording process.
Boundaries, formed in Hartford, consists of McDougal (lead vocals), Cory Emond (rhythm guitar), Tim Sullivan (drums and clean vocals), Nathan Calcagno (bass), and Cody DelVecchio (lead guitar). The group has built a reputation in the metalcore scene for blending aggressive breakdowns with melodic passages, a style that is evident on the new single.
Sumerian Records, the label releasing the album, was founded in 2006 by Ash Avildsen and has signed acts such as Bad Omens, Animals as Leaders, and Poppy. In 2022, the company expanded its merchandise capabilities by acquiring Behemoth Entertainment, a comic book and video game publisher.
The release of "May This Pain Never Leave" adds to a steady stream of material from Boundaries, who have been active in the metalcore circuit since the mid‑2010s. The single’s performance video and the band’s engagement with fans at The Webster Underground underscore the group’s commitment to delivering high‑energy shows and authentic content.
Yearning: The Unbeautiful After will arrive on July 17, 2026, and is expected to continue the band’s exploration of emotional themes within a hard‑hitting musical framework. The album’s tracklist, featuring collaborations and a mix of aggressive and melodic elements, positions Boundaries to maintain their presence in the metalcore genre.
The album’s nine tracks, including the single and collaborations, will be available on all major streaming platforms and in physical formats upon release.
With the single’s release and accompanying video, Boundaries has provided fans with a preview of the album’s tone and intensity, while reaffirming their connection to the Hartford music community. Fans can stream the single immediately on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
