Coastal Fire Dept Announces September Album Bonfire Of Fevoured Egos and New Single Come Together
Frontman Ollie Goddard, who also runs the independent label L’islet Records, revealed the news during a brief interview. Goddard explained that he dedicates a handful of hours each week to label duties while keeping music as his primary focus. The label released the band’s debut mini‑album Control in 2019.
Goddard painted a picture of Guernsey’s music scene as a tight‑knit but diverse community. With a population of roughly 64,000, the Channel Islands support a wide array of local acts, and Coastal Fire Dept has emerged as one of the island’s most visible grunge outfits.
When asked how the band measures success, Goddard said they keep it simple: 1,000 streams or followers. "If those numbers add up, it’s a big success," he told reporters. He added that the goal‑setting approach has remained unchanged since the group formed in 2013.
Reflecting on the past decade, Goddard noted that the experience has reinforced the importance of drive, passion, and a can‑do attitude. He also mentioned that his day job as a legal adviser provides a counterbalance to his musical pursuits.
The band’s 2023 single "Everything’s Dead" tackled the decline of community life in modern society, describing empty towns and the erosion of communal bonds.
With Bonfire Of Fevoured Egos, Coastal Fire Dept plans to push their sound further. Goddard described the new material as "a little looser, a little punkier, a little grittier and a little louder" than the 2023 release Outsiders.
The group thanked fans for their support, noting that in a small island community each follower feels especially significant. When touring the UK, they encounter energetic crowds and enjoy meeting new people.
The September album will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms. Fans can follow Coastal Fire Dept on social media for updates and to hear the full tracklist, while the band’s official website lists the release date and streaming links.
In sum, Coastal Fire Dept’s upcoming album and single mark a clear evolution in the band’s sound while reaffirming their commitment to Guernsey’s independent music scene. The September release will add a new chapter to their discography and continue to showcase the island’s vibrant creative community.
