Arts Council England Launches 10-20k Music Creators Growth Fund to Support Established UK Artists
Arts Council England has announced the Music Creators Growth Fund (MCGF), a new investment programme that will provide direct grants of £10,000 to £20,000 to established music creators in the United Kingdom.
The fund is part of the government’s Music Growth Package, which was unveiled in July and is backed by a total of £45 million. The MCGF is one of three schemes within the package, the others being the Music Growth Fund and the Music Development Fund.
Eligibility The MCGF is aimed at artists who can demonstrate a minimum of three years of active music‑creation practice and a proven track record. Applicants must have earned at least £5,000 from music for one year within the last three years and must have professional support in place – such as management, publishing, label representation, an agent or a lawyer. If a creator does not currently have a formal team, the application allows them to explain how they access professional advice, support or networks.
The fund will not be open to absolute beginners. According to the Arts Council’s Director of Music, Claire Mera‑Nelson, “Through our work to develop the Music Growth Package, we’ve heard about the vital role played by direct access to investment. Insights shared by the people who bring new, original music to audiences around the globe confirmed our belief that we could do more to realise the full potential of the UK’s talented creators.”
