Architects is a British metalcore band known for their technical precision, emotionally charged songwriting, and evolution toward a more expansive, modern metal sound. Formed in Brighton, England, in 2004, the band has featured a core lineup including vocalist Sam Carter, guitarists Dan and the late Tom Searle, bassist Alex Dean, and drummer Dan Searle. From their early beginnings, Architects stood out for combining heavy breakdowns with intricate guitar work and socially conscious lyricism.

The band gained traction in the late 2000s with albums like “Hollow Crown” (2009) and “The Here and Now” (2011), which showcased their blend of technical metalcore and melodic elements. However, it was their later releases that truly defined their identity. Albums such as “Lost Forever // Lost Together” (2014) and “All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us” (2016) combined crushing heaviness with atmospheric layers and introspective themes, earning widespread critical acclaim and a growing international audience.

A pivotal moment in the band’s history came with the passing of guitarist and primary songwriter Tom Searle in 2016. His loss deeply impacted the band, but it also influenced the direction of their music moving forward. Their subsequent album “Holy Hell” (2018) served as both a tribute and a continuation of their artistic vision, exploring themes of grief, resilience, and hope while maintaining their signature intensity.

In the 2020s, Architects continued to evolve stylistically with albums like “For Those That Wish to Exist” (2021) and “The Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit” (2022), incorporating more arena-ready production, electronic elements, and broader influences beyond traditional metalcore. This shift introduced their music to a wider audience while sparking discussion among longtime fans about their changing sound.

Today, Architects are recognized as one of the most important and influential bands in modern metal. Their combination of technical skill, emotional depth, and willingness to evolve has set them apart in the genre. With a career marked by both artistic growth and personal adversity, they continue to push boundaries while maintaining a strong connection with their audience.
