Jim Price is an American musician, trombonist, trumpeter, and arranger best known for his work as a session player and touring member with major rock artists in the late 1960s and 1970s. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1945, he became a key contributor to the horn-driven sound that defined many classic rock recordings of the era. His playing is characterized by tight, punchy brass arrangements that add depth and energy to rock and blues-based music.

Price is closely associated with The Rolling Stones, contributing horns to albums such as Sticky Fingers (1971) and Exile on Main St. (1972). His work helped enhance the band’s exploration of soul, blues, and gospel influences, adding a distinctive brass layer to their evolving sound during this period.

He also collaborated extensively with Leon Russell, serving as both a musician and arranger. Through this partnership, Price became part of a broader circle of session players who contributed to numerous influential recordings across rock, pop, and country genres.

Throughout his career, Jim Price worked with a wide range of notable artists, including Joe Cocker, particularly during the “Mad Dogs & Englishmen” era, as well as artists like Eric Clapton.
