The Skatalites are a Jamaican ska band widely regarded as one of the most influential groups in the development of ska and reggae music. Formed in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1964, the band brought together some of the island’s most talented musicians, creating a sound that blended Caribbean rhythms with jazz, R&B, and swing influences. Their work laid the foundation for the evolution of both rocksteady and reggae, making them a cornerstone of Jamaican music history.

The original lineup included notable musicians such as Don Drummond and Tommy McCook, whose instrumental expertise helped define the band’s dynamic sound.
