Solomun Breaks Decade-Long Rule to Open Pacha New York, Offering Free Access to Fans
The Bosnian‑German DJ, who has spent the last ten years limiting his international touring to Europe during Ibiza’s summer season, said the decision was driven by the response of the New York crowds. "I held that rule for over ten years. I never questioned it. And then I watched thousands of people stand in the rain for hours without moving. After that, staying home was not an option anymore," he explained.
In late May, Solomun performed at the Fulton Fish Market in Brooklyn. The event was marked by early rain that persisted for hours, yet almost no one left the venue. The crowd continued dancing through the downpour, and after the set ended, the party moved to the Knockdown Center for an additional five hours of music. The sustained enthusiasm of the audience, who endured wet conditions without asking for compensation, prompted Solomun to reconsider his long‑standing travel policy.
To honor those fans, Pacha New York will open its dancefloor to anyone who attended either the Fulton Fish Market show or the Knockdown Center afterparty. Eligible attendees will enter a registration lottery; all entries receive an equal chance of being selected. The event is not a ticket sale but a gesture of thanks to the people who were already present.
The opening night also continues Solomun’s deep ties to the Pacha brand. He launched the Solomun +1 residency in 2013, a program that has become one of Ibiza’s longest‑running DJ residencies. By hosting the first night of Pacha New York, Solomun extends that relationship across the Atlantic.
2026 marks a milestone year for Solomun and his label Diynamic Music. The label celebrates its 20th anniversary, and the artist has played sold‑out shows, including two nights at London’s Alexandra Palace. Recent releases include remixes of Nina Simone’s “Take Care Of Business” and Max Styler’s “One More,” as well as the collaboration “Kinesphere” with Coco Nancy. Several new tracks are slated for live debut at the Solomun +1 residency in Ibiza.
The decision to break his decade‑long travel rule underscores Solomun’s commitment to audience connection. By offering free access to fans who endured rain and long hours, he demonstrates the same willingness to step outside his comfort zone that has defined his career.
Pacha New York’s opening night will take place on June 19 at the former Brooklyn Mirage venue. Fans who qualify for the lottery can find more information on the club’s website. The event represents a significant moment for both the DJ and the club, linking a storied European brand with the dynamic New York nightlife scene.
