J.Solo, a Christian hip‑hop artist who first stepped up to the mic in a church choir in 1994, signed with Rapzilla’s distribution label in 2025 and released his debut solo album, Lost Son, in June of that year.

The move marks a major turning point for a performer who had been silent for almost a decade. After a string of personal challenges—including divorce, drug use and the heartbreaking loss of his son to leukemia—J.Solo emerged with an album that is, in his own words, a “candid reflection” on that dark period.

His roots trace back to a local church community where he discovered hip‑hop through cassette tapes of T‑Bone and DC Talk. The experience led him to join the rap collective The Chosen Ones, a group that helped him hone his songwriting and stage presence. In 2003, he earned a runner‑up spot in Ohio’s Christian Artist Talent Search (C.A.T.S.), but after the group disbanded he pursued a solo path only to step away from music in 2012.

A 2022 comeback saw J.Solo team up with his cousin, Knaladeus, who produced most of the tracks on Lost Son and guided him through the modern music industry. Their collaboration has already yielded a new project in development.

The album’s title track and several others directly reference the “darkest season” J.Solo endured—his divorce and a period of reckless living—while he explains that sharing these stories is meant to help others facing similar struggles. He also weaves in his inner‑city upbringing, noting that exposure to drugs and violence in his youth pushed him toward a different path.

Distributed through Rapzilla, an online magazine and distribution platform that has championed Christian hip‑hop for more than a decade, Lost Son gives J.Solo access to a wider audience and connects him with a network of like‑minded artists.

J.Solo, who also belongs to Infiltrate Music, has said he will continue working with Knaladeus on future releases. He stresses the importance of consistent output and spreading the Gospel through both music and ministry.

The album is currently streaming on major platforms, and the Christian rap community has welcomed his return as a testament to resilience and faith. The signing with Rapzilla and the release of Lost Son represent a fresh chapter in his career after a prolonged hiatus.

Presently, J.Solo is promoting Lost Son and preparing a new project with Knaladeus; details are expected to be announced in the coming months.
